Who we are

The Clean Up Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to initiating positive change in the lives of garbage cleaners and ragpickers in Mumbai. Founded in 2016, by Sanjana Runwal, our mission is fuelled by a commitment to improve the welfare and quality of life for these essential yet often overlooked members of the society. The foundation’s approach is holistic and its diverse initiatives, inspired by the spirit of India's 'Swachh Bharat' campaign, have one ultimate goal - to forge a future where dignity, housing, health, and comprehensive well-being are not mere aspirations but realities for those who tirelessly work to keep our city clean, yet find themselves living in challenging conditions. This vision has garnered recognition, as evidenced by the honour bestowed upon us by the Governor of Maharashtra for our significant contributions to improving the living standards of Mumbai's sanitation workers and ragpickers.
